Edsel M. Hosaflook

Edsel M. Hosaflook, a beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. He was born on December 18, 1932, in Harrisonburg to Meryl Hammrick Hosaflook and Addie Frances Loker Hosaflook.Edsel's passion for driving spanned his entire life. For 30 years, he served as a dedicated driver for Smith Transfer, handling various kinds of transportation tasks with utmost professionalism. Those who knew him admired his commitment and work ethic. Edsel's career was not merely a job; it was an integral part of his identity.During his early years, Edsel pursued his education at Linville Edom High School and proudly graduated as part of the Class of 1950. Edsel served valiantly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His role involved driving trucks of many sizes, contributing to the success of military operations. Edsel's service reflected his unwavering commitment to his country, and he will forever be remembered as a patriotic individual.Beyond driving, Edsel had a diverse range of interests and hobbies that enriched his life.  A dedicated member of the Teamsters Union. He found true tranquility while fishing or spending time on boats. His connection to trucks and tractors extended beyond work.Edsel had a special place in his heart for Tammy Williams, Harold and Libby Clifton, Lisa Roche (his Goddaughter). Their friendship meant the world to him, bringing him comfort and joy throughout the years.He was preceded in death by his wife Mayme "Betty" Estel May Hosaflook and brother, Kenneth Francis Hosaflook.  Meryle Hammrick Hosaflook (father) and Addie Frances Loker Hosaflook (mother). Their presence in Edsel's life brought him immeasurable love and support. May their souls find eternal peace.Edsel is survived by his sister, Marlene Bertie Hosaflook Wine, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.A burial service to honor Edsel's memory will be held on January 13, 2024, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens, by Pastor David Burrell, located at 1921 Shutterlee Mill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401. The service will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. In his years with us, Edsel M. Hosaflook touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, loyalty, and kindness. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for driving, and his unyielding commitment to those around him.
