Douglas Newton Terry

Douglas Newton Terry, 82, husband of Carole (Simmons) Terry of Staunton, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025 at his residence. 
Mr. Terry was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia on January 31, 1943, the son of the late Samuel Rodney Terry and Lois Frances (Shiflett) Terry. 
Douglas retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), where he was employed as an equipment operator. Mr. Terry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam war. He was a dedicated member of Summit Church of the Brethren and had a deep passion for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, and tending to his yard and garden. Known for his wide range of skills, he was truly a man of many talents.
Mr. Terry was the last surviving member of his immediate family. 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Terry is preceded in death by a sister, Zane (Terry) Shull; and a niece, Renee Simmons. 
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 33 years, is a daughter, Tish Lamb of Bridgewater; three step-daughters, Cherie Driver and her husband, Mark of Mt. Solon, Donna Curry and her husband, Bill of Bridgewater, and Wendy Clifton and her husband, Greg of Stuarts Draft; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Summit Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor Billy Curry. 
Active pallbearers will be Mark Driver, Greg Clifton, Ryan Clifton, Zach Blevins, Brent Driver, and Harold Clifton. 
The family would like to express a sincere “Thank you” to the staff of the Staunton VA Clinic and Augusta Health Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Terry.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
