Dorwon "Dort" Lee Emmett

Dorwon "Dort" Lee Emmett, youngest son of Robert James and Flora Bell (Michael) Emmett, of Mount Solon, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at 6:30 AM at White Birch Estates.

On November 13, 1960, Dorwon married the love of his life, Gay Lucille Michael. They had 64 years, 7 months, and 2 days of marriage.

Dorwon was a "Lead Man" at Walker Manufacturing for 37 years, Department 905, when he retired. He and his wife Gay traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico, riding every steam train that they could.

Dorwon is also survived by a brother, James R. Emmett, Sr; sister-in-law, Barbara (Zimmerman) Emmett; special niece, Julie Vess; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie E. Emmett, and a sister-in-law, Molly (Howdyshell) Emmett.

Friends and family may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater anytime between 10 AM and 5 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025 to pay their respects and sign the guest register.

Services will be private, with Pastor David Clinedinst assisted Pastor Charles David Clinedinst.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Solon Fire and Rescue Department, 86 Emmanuel Church Rd, Mt. Solon, 22843.
