Dorothy A. Getler

Dorothy A Getler, 91, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away on Monday, December 11th, 2023 at The Regency in Fishersville.
Dorothy was born to Howard Brown and Helen (Svehla) Brown on August 16th, 1932. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who worked for the state of New Jersey for many years, before “retiring” and becoming a realtor, which she did for over 10 years, only stopping after she hit 80 years old. She then officially retired from working, and moved to Florida with her husband, Charles.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E Meicke, who passed away in 1961; her second husband, Charles H Getler, who passed in 2017; a son, Raymond Meicke; a brother, Howard Brown; and her favorite aunt, Martha.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Bill Meicke with wife Kathy of Waynesboro, VA, Nancy Snook with husband Rob of Newton, NJ, and Bob Getler with wife Ruth of Elizabethtown, KY. She is also survived by grandchildren, Gary Getler with wife Miranda, Stephen Meicke with wife Lisa Hall, Nicole Meicke, Ryan Getler, Noah Getler and Kyle Getler; great-grandchildren, Sadie and Nathaniel; as well as her brother, Richard Brown with wife Karen of Hudson, FL and her cousin Barbara.

A celebration of life will be conducted at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida) at a later date and time, yet to be determined.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered as a loving and dedicated woman who adored her family. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her time with the Florida “Clubhouse Ladies” scrap booking, knitting, and swimming. Dorothy was a talented and accomplished knitter.
