Denton "Denny" Lee Thompson

Denton Lee "Denny" Thompson Jr., 59, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation.

He was born on February 27, 1964 and was a son of the late Denton Thompson, Sr. and Fannie Gum Thompson.

Denny graduated from Spotswood High School, class of 1982. He had worked at Marvel, Tysons and Rockingham Construction. Denny loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and feeding the birds and squirrels. He enjoyed making things with his hands such as bird house's. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhart. Denny loved watching The Andy Griffith Show with his mother and his cats, and taking care of his sisters.

He is survived by his sisters, Lori Hinkle of Churchville, and Wanda Morris and husband, Chad, of Churchville; aunt, Ruby "Tootie" Rawley and husband Steve, of Mt. Solon; several cousins; and very good friend Billy Shifflett of Elkton. .

He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Billy Hinkle.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A service celebrating Denny's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the funeral home, with Pastor Justin Kimmel officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery.
