Also surviving is a daughter, Kathy Dudley Lindsey.

Deloris was born and grew up in Glen Lyn, VA and graduated from Narrows High School and Radford College with a degree in Home Economics. It was her first job that introduced her to her future husband, Dick, as she worked as a home economist for Vepco. Her working career carried over into elementary education, and eventually real estate where she was an integral part of Real Estate III based out of Charlottesville, VA where she had her hand in the development of Glenmore Estates and the country club associated with Glenmore.

Deloris was an only child whose mother was one of 17 children. Deloris grew up with and adored her many first cousins, some of whom were present at her final birthday party in June. Deloris was a talented musician, playing the piano and organ with such grace at numerous churches, and lastly with West Waynesboro Church of Christ. Deloris remained devoted to the Church and her Savior up until the moment of her passing. Deloris doted on her only two grandchildren Madi and Bree and adored her grandma name “EO”.

In her better days, Deloris was an amazing cook and loved hosting holidays, dinners, happy hours and was the organizer of the best football tailgates at UVA. Deloris was also quite adept at hunting and upon retirement took to the woods with Dick and so enjoyed the peaceful solitude of nature. Deloris fought the disease of Alzheimer’s with great resolve and never once complained. The family would like to thank the staff at The Phoenix at Harrisonburg for the very loving care Deloris received. The family would also like to thank The Legacy Hospice Team of Harrisonburg who made this journey a little easier to bear.

Lastly, the Dudley family would like to thank L.G. Ferrier for his nonstop commitment to visiting and caring for Deloris up until her final day. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
