Delmer "Buzz" Courtney Cain

May 18, 1931 - May 25, 2025

Delmer Courtney “Buzz” Cain, 94, husband of Mary Catherine (Wilson) Cain of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at The Legacy at North Augusta.

Mr. Cain was born in Moorefield, West Virginia on May 18, 1931, a son of the late Sterling P. Cain and Ida (Funkhouser) Cain.

Delmer was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church, a proud veteran of the United States Army, a member of Verona V.F.W. 10826, American Legion Post 13, and Teamster Lodge 29. He retired after 25 years from Smith’s Transfer as a truck driver, and in his spare time he enjoyed farming. 

He was the last member of his immediate family. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Cain; and a sister, Shirley Cain.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 75 years, is a daughter, Cathy (Cain) Myers and her husband, Mike of Staunton; a brother-in-law, Jim Wilson and his wife, JoAnn of Frederick, Maryland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, 165 Fairfield Drive, Staunton, Virginia 24401. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 in Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Amy Pannell.

The family would like to express a sincere “Thank You” to the staff of The Legacy at North Augusta, The Legacy Hospice, and Mrs. Phyllis Vest for their care and compassion shown to Mr. Cain during his illness.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
