David Mitchell "Mitch" Claytor, Jr.

David Mitchell “Mitch” Claytor, Jr., 46, of Staunton passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at his home.
Born May 18, 1977 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Annette (Bell) Bess and the late David Mitchell Claytor, Sr.

David was a 1995 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. As an avid sports fan, Mitch enjoyed spending his Sunday afternoons cheering on the Washington Redskins and NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick. He served as a junior member of the Waynesboro First Aid Crew. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his sons, whether that was coaching them in little league baseball when they were young or taking them fishing. Those who knew him best will remember him as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Survivors include his two sons, Tyler Claytor and wife, Mallory, of Staunton, and Mike Claytor and girlfriend, Kelley Coish, of Waynesboro; grandson, Kash Claytor; mother and step-father, Annette Bess and husband, Jimmy of Crimora; sister, Denise Clatterbaugh and husband, Brandy of Stuarts Draft; step-sisters, Amanda Hassett of Staunton and Crystal Lambert and husband, Kendal of Mount Sidney; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved friends, Jeff and Jenn.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro and other times at the home of his mother and stepfather.
