Dakota Patrick Humphries
Dakota Patrick Humphries, 20, of 42 Chapel Road in Churchville, passed away in a tragic accident on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Dakota was born in Fishersville, Virginia on August 24, 2003, the son of Kirk Patrick Humphries and Cherish Dawn (Curry) Humphries.
Dakota was a member of Village Church, a 2022 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School where he ran track, cross-country, and was a member of the FFA, and employed at Amazon. He enjoyed spending his time outside, hunting, fishing, farming, and working on his truck. Dakota loved his music loud and was known to be unable to finish a song; changing it to the next when only halfway through. You would always see Dakota with a smile on his face. He never met a stranger and was often eager and willing to help others. Dakota oozed with enthusiasm and love for others. He had many nicknames, one being Cooter Johnson. Dakota was loving to his family and his presence on earth will be greatly missed.
Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Charlotte Humphries; his maternal great-grandparents, Nancy Campbell, and William, Curry Sr. and his wife, Daisy; and a special great-aunt, Fran Griffin.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his maternal grandparents, William, Jr. and Judy P. Curry; uncles, W.E. Curry, III and his wife, Erica, and John Humphries and his wife, Bernadette; an aunt, Gail Gardner; great-aunts and uncles, John Curry and his wife, Linda “Lu Lu”, Dreama Link and her husband, Rodney, James Mitchell, and Donnie Crummett and his wife, Brenda; many cousins, Will and Marshall Curry, Trevor and Tristan Revercomb, Precious Curry, J.J. Curry and his wife, Hilary, Trenton Link and his wife, Sarah, Jamie Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Paisley and Maelie Curry, and Emma, Ryker, and Orion Link; many friends and his very special church family.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at their residence.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church by Pastor Todd Yoder.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Village Church youth.
