D. Jean Hudnall
D. Jean Hudnall, 71, formerly of Amherst County, VA, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Regency at Augusta in Fishersville, VA. She was born in Cleveland, OH, on November 15, 1953, a daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Margaret McMillon.
Jean graduated from Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, VA, in 1972. She served in the United States Navy from 1974- 1975. Jean proudly served with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Department from 1989 until her retirement where she worked as a Dispatcher, Correctional Officer, and Police Officer. She also served as a town Treasurer’s Assistant from January 1993 until December 1993. In her spare time, she greatly enjoyed fishing, biking, and hiking. She was an avid Snoopy fan and collector. Jean was a gifted artist and musician, playing guitar, singing and being an amazing whistler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Hudnall and daughter, Mandy Phillips.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Rachel Bryant and husband, Shaun; grandchildren, Carter and Carmen Bryant; siblings: John Hudnall and wife, Donna, Mary Beth Early and husband, Greg, Steven McMillion and wife, Janette, Margaret Ann Brown and husband, Craig and Mike McMillion; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2pm until 3pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
