Conrad Vernon "Butch" Martin, Sr.

Conrad Vernon “Butch” Martin, Sr., 82, husband of Lummy Jane (Campbell) Martin of Wilda Road in Stuarts Draft, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Martin was born in Augusta County, Virginia on September 10, 1940, the son of the late Annie Evelyn (Martin) Knight.

Mr. Martin was retired from Hollister after twenty years of service in the maintenance department. “Butch” enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the garden.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, James Herman Knight; and a sister, Nancy Lee (Martin) Stuples.

Mr. Martin was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years are two sons, Conrad Vernon Martin, Jr. of Stuarts Draft, and Timothy Allen Martin and his wife Ruth of Staunton; a grandson, Timothy Conrad “T.C.” Martin; and special friends, John Henry Buchanan, Jr. and Joseph and Diane Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William “Bill” Trice.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be his grandson, Timothy Conrad “T.C.” Martin, and John Henry Buchanan, Jr., Joseph Taylor, Ray Walker, Jesse Taylor, Billy Brown and Guy Brooks.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
