Claudia Hauber Paulson

Claudia Hauber Paulson, 64, passed away peacefully at Sentara RMH on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was born in Immenstadt, Germany, on October 4th, 1961, to Karl Hauber, who survives, and the late Florina (Egger) Hauber.

Raised on a dairy farm in Bavaria alongside her parents and siblings, Claudia learned early on the virtues of hard work, family, and homemaking. Her agricultural roots remained a lifelong source of pride. Seeking adventure, she traveled to the United States through an agricultural exchange program, choosing the Shenandoah Valley because its mountain landscape reminded her so much of home.

Throughout her life, Claudia wore many hats: dairy farmer, dedicated mother, gardener, skilled cook, and proud grandmother, affectionately known as "Oma." Claudia was a devoted, attentive, and resourceful mother who took immense joy in family life and running a bustling household. She had a generous spirit and a sharp eye for the needs of others, always looking out for her family and friends. Among her favorite pastimes were visiting local greenhouses, browsing bookstores, and tending to her garden and home.

In addition to her father, Claudia is survived by three sisters and one brother, as well as her six children: Eric Paulson (Lindsey) of Maidens, VA; Andreas Paulson (Adrien) of Port Republic, VA; Veronica Paulson (Evan McArdle) of Richmond, VA; Karl Paulson (Marie) of Port Republic, VA; Rebecca Rubush (Derek) of Port Republic, VA; and Timothy Paulson of Port Republic, VA. She is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.
