Clarence Duval Howell, Jr.
Clarence Duval Howell, Jr., 72, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at River Edge Nursing & Rehabilitation, Waynesboro.
Born February 24, 1951 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Duval Clarence and Nora Lee (Riggleman) Howell. On June 16, 2000 he married Patricia Miller. The two shared 23 wonderful years of marriage.
Prior to retirement, Clarence was employed by Blue Ridge Lumber Company for 13 years where he worked as a forklift operator. He was a member of Summersett Baptist Church, Pittsville, VA. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a talented musician who loved to play bluegrass music, someone who adored spending time with his family, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Miller Howell of Waynesboro; son, Richard “Wade” Howell of Lynch Station, VA; daughter, Brandy Howell Rowland and husband, Jason, of Altavista, VA; step-daughter, Denise Dotson Carter and husband, Alan, of Nellysford; step-son, Dean Dotson of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Ashley Nguyen, Whitley Dotson, Tyler Howell, Destiny Lloyd, Trevor Carter, Katie Howell, Devin Rowland, Alexa Rowland, Haleigh Howell, and Wade Howell, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Patsy Arrington and husband, Jon, of Altavista, VA, Kenneth Howell and wife, Pam, of Hurt, VA, Linda Almond of Lynchburg, VA, and Melissa Anderson and husband, Brian of Gretna, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Hermitage Presbyterian Church, 46 Hildebrand Church Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Jaci Smith Patman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
