Christopher Bernier

Christopher Robert Bernier, 52, of Staunton VA went to heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

He is survived by his mother, Cindy Rettig Sprinkle (the late Howard B. Sprinkle); daughter, Megan Hughes (Devin); son, Ethan Bernier (Nikki); sister, Amy Tolbert (Mike); four grandchildren: Skylar Hughes, Novalynne Bernier, Brantley Hughes and Ezekiel Bernier; three step grandchildren: Keaghan Hughes, Jarad Bernier and Jayce Bernier; and three nieces: Abby Barnes, Katie Tolbert and Macy Tolbert.

He proudly served his country in the US Army’s 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, aka Black Horse Unit.

Chris spent his career in the construction industry and the last 11 years of his life selling concrete, a job he took much pride in.

Chris loved His Lord with “a simple faith” and the gospel music of the Statler Brothers. He was a proud American and loved his country. He loved being out in God’s creation enjoying many hikes to St. Mary’s Falls. He had many passions including playing his guitar, singing, cooking, painting and watching the Celtics.

He was a good and lifelong friend to so many.

Thank you Chris, for sharing so many laughs, stories, songs and wisdom over the last 52 years. You made a positive impression on everyone you came across. We love and miss you dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations to PreBorn (Chris’ favorite ministry) would be gratefully appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held at Mt Ed Baptist Church ,1606 Craigs Store Rd, Afton, VA 22920, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 2pm. In honor of Chris, please sport your favorite Hawaiian shirt.
