Charles Varner
Charles L. Varner, Jr., 70, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was born in Waynesboro on May 11, 1953, a son of the late Charles L. Sr. and Bertha (Glenn) Varner.
Charles graduated from Waynesboro Memorial High School and Vocational Technical School. He retired as an electrician. Charles greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and landscaping. He was truly a jack of all trades.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Thornton and nephew, Wesley Allman.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Maureen Varner; son, Greg Varner; grandsons, Brayden and Brennen Varner; granddog, Nova; sisters, Mary Ellen Coffey and Betty Allman; nephews, Donnie Allman, Thad Coffey, Chad Coffey, and Jack Statler, who was like a second son to him; nieces, Carol Huffman and Susan Brown; Charles’s two special girls, his great nieces, Gracelynn Statler and Kahli Harman; as well as additional nieces, nephews, a large extended family, and many friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and Chaplin Glenn at Augusta Health for all the special care giving to Charles and his family during this difficult time.
