Charles "Charlie" Mumaw
Charles "Charlie" Mumaw, 94, of Strasburg, VA passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Maynard in Strasburg.
Mr. Mumaw was born in Lebanon Church, VA on April 28, 1930, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Fannie Mowery Mumaw. Mr. Mumaw graduated from Toms Brook High School in 1948 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Mumaw retired as an electrician from ABEX in Winchester. He was a member the Strasburg Presbyterian Church and the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Strasburg, VA, VFW, and the Strasburg Moose Lodge.
Survivors include one son Chuck Mumaw (Cindy) of Strasburg, two grandchildren, Amanda Gulla (JP), Kelli Foxman (Dave), four great grandchildren Grant Foxman, Cooper Foxman, Maryn Foxman, Joseph Gulla, a very special friend Louise Wymer, along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Mumaw is preceded in death by his first wife Josephine Brown Mumaw, second wife Helen Shipp Mumaw, three brothers, Frank Mumaw, John Mumaw, and Jack Smith.
Graveside services for Mr. Mumaw are being planned for a late date.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Maynard for the love and care that they had and would like to thank Blue Ridge Hospice for the compassion and comfort they showed Charlie.
In lieu of flowers family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Maynard activities department at 14 Maynard Lane Strasburg, Virginia 22657.
