Carolyn Helsley

Carolyn Sue Stinson Helsley, born and raised in Toms Brook, VA, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Helsley was born in Shenandoah County, VA on April 14, 1945, the daughter of James Vernon and Evelyn Keller Stinson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed going for walks and a good cup of coffee. She was a caregiver to many in her lifetime and will be missed greatly.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Denise Herald; her granddaughter Misty Pittington (Derrick); her great-grandchildren Ava and Cory Pittington; her brother Wesley Stinson (Gladys). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael Allen Helsley; her sister Lorretta Miller.

A celebration of life service for Carolyn will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Toms Brook, VA officiated by Rev. Joe Fleming.
