Carol Elaine Stewart

Carol Elaine Stewart, 82, of Grottoes, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at her home.

She was born on April 9, 1943 and was a daughter of William Sandridge and Mary (Gentry) Sandridge.

Carol had worked as a seamstress at Genesco in Verona, before retiring.

Carol was united in marriage to Charlie Vernon Stewart, who survives, on June 28, 1958. They shared 67 loving years together.

Carol is survived by one son, William (Peggy) Stewart; two granddaughters, Amber (Jason Cunningham) Bennington, Amanda Stewart; a bonus daughter, Valerie (Gruver) Watson; one great granddaughter, Huntley "Hunt Bug" Bennington; a niece, Susan (Paul) Gochenour; a great nephew, Ethan "Red" Gochenour; a beloved dog, Patsy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Chappell and Betty Wright.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Josh Akin officiating.
