Carmen D. Sprouse
STAUNTON – Carmen Danielle Sprouse, 41, passed away Wednesday (January 29, 2025) in her home.
Carmen was born in Staunton on April 9, 1983, the daughter of Daniel Lee Sprouse of Staunton and Debra Ann (Harvey) Cauley of Swoope. She was a 2001 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. Carmen enjoyed volunteering in an assisted living facility. She had a great love of camping, playing corn hole, shopping and watching her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Dallas Sprouse, James Harvey, Carol Harvey and Ruth Cauley; and aunts and uncles Cindy Wine, June Schweitzer, Tony Harvey, Scott Fitzgerald and Tony Puckett.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepfather, Dennis Cauley of Swoope; grandmothers Charlotte (Fox) Sprouse of Fishersville and Mary Harvey of Lofton; sisters and brothers Kaiti Sprouse (Max) of Seattle, Wash., Danielle Sprouse (Matt) of Charlottesville, Chad Cauley of Augusta Springs and Christy Southers (Kevin) of Staunton; aunts and uncles Debbie Fitzgerald and Tanny Hildebrand (Bobby) both of Churchville, Sheila Puckett of Staunton, Brenda Koval (Kevin) of Raphine, Phyllis Persinger (Greg) of Tenn., and Lisa Lisi (Julian), Ronnie Harvey (Lori), Jamie Harvey and Tommy Mynes, all of Lofton; nieces and nephews Madison Callison (Andrew), Easton Cauley, Dakota McCray, and Billy Southers (fiancé Brittany); great-nieces and great-nephews Hazel McCray, Noah Southers and Aiden Measley; and many cousins, including a special cousin, Devon Fridley.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Lester Kennedy. Burial will follow in Craigsville Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Damian Fink, Chase Wine, Andrew Callison, Matt Wright, Billy Southers and Eric May.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
