Carl Tyson

Carl Raymond Tyson, 85, of Waynesboro passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Regency at Augusta in Fishersville. He was born in Berryton, Kansas on September 25, 1939, a son of the late Wesley Tyson and Jennie Tyson Lewis.

Carl attended Berryton High School in Kansas and Healthville High in Heathville , Virginia. He proudly served in the United States Navy Sea Bees in the South Pacific. Carl retired from DuPont after 32 years of service. He was a former member of Hermitage Presbyterian Church for many years and recently attended Wayne Hill Baptist Church until his illness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by her first wife of 38 years and mother of his children, Jackie Tyson and two brothers, Marion and Harry Tyson.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Janice Tyson; daughter, Stephanie Failes and husband, Pat of Harrisonburg; son Chris Tyson and wife, Becky of Clearbrook; three grandchildren; a great grandson; as well as extended family and friends.

Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Wayne Hill Baptist Church with Pastors Jamie McClanahan and Dennis Westover officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to their friends, family, and caregivers at Regency and also Hospice of the Shenandoah for the support and love that was shown to Carl and his family through the past two and a half years which has been a long and sometimes a very painful journey.

We know Carl is where he wants to be in the arms of our Savior. We often talked of Jesus and the wonders that he has for our eternal life. We know he is happy and pain free, but will be missed so much.
