Callie Whitt Reese

February 10, 1943 - July 19, 2023

Callie (Whitt) Reese, 80, widow of Clyde Oliver Reese of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at her residence.

Ms. Reese was born in Tazewell, Virginia on February 10, 1943, a daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice Whitt.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Emery Whitt and James “Jim” Whitt; a daughter-in-law, Dana Whitt; and a grandson, Jonathan Reese.

Surviving, are her sons, Gary O. Reese (Tammy), and Donald “Duck” Reese; a sister, Pauline “Polly” Guffey (Ed); grandchildren, Elizabeth “Liz” German (Jonathan), Nikki Reese, Shane Tomlin, Megan Gilmer (Dustin), Brandi Radford, and Carla Loughner (Charles); great-grandchildren, Ryan Reese, Zack Reese, Mason German, Noah Reese, James Harper, Hanna Gilmer, Ethan Gilmer, Austin Wright, Octavia Wright, Devon Baker, Samantha Baker, and Brianna Reese; a great-great-granddaughter, Braylan Reese; nephews, Steve Guffey (Liz) and Jeff Guffey (Nancy); several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, Diane Deacon.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Old Providence ARP Church Cemetery in Spottswood by Pastor Bill Myrtle.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Active pallbearers will be Shane Tomlin, Luther Reese, Dustin Fitzgerald and Thomas Gideos.

The family would like to express a sincere “Thank you” to Elizabeth “Liz” German and her family for giving Callie the care and love she needed before her death, and to Tammy Reese for all of the help she gave Liz in caring for Callie. An additional “Thank you” to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the help they gave to her care.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
