Bruce Carter Webb
Sergeant First Class Bruce Carter Webb, 64 of Rockingham Co. passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at The Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville, VA.
Sergeant Webb was born in Roanoke, VA on October 15, 1958. Preceding him in death are his parents. Father & stepmother, Carter Jackson Webb & Delores Martin Webb. And mother, Roxy Gray Sublett (Webb). Also, his beloved service dog, Harley.
Bruce proudly served his country for 32 years in the United States Army where he retired a Ranger & Sergeant First Class. The relationships he built in the service were unmatched. Of numerous earned awards & recognition, what mattered most to him were his men in Charlie Company of the 3/116 Infantry. Those like Platoon Sgt. Hopkins, 1st Sgt. Chandler, Sgt. Whetzel, his “#1 son,” Specialist Eppard, Specialist Ferrell & in memory, Specialist Mosko. Also, Sgt. Roger Whineguard.
Sergeant Webb loved his country. But, his greatest treasures in life, were his family. Left to cherish his memory, are his three children & six grandchildren. Son, Justin Sidney Webb (Sheina) & their three children, Mikayela, Haylie & Carter. Daughter, Taylor Webb Perdue (Mike) & their son Nolan. And daughter, Mary Webb (Arun) & her two children, Ashlynn & Benjamin. Also, Bruce’s brother Tony Webb & sister Robin Brooks (David). Numerous family & an abundance of friends will remember Bruce fondly.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory in Staunton, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00pm at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
