Brenda S. Vann-Adamo, 72, of Fishersville passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Fishersville. She was born June 28, 1953, daughter of the late John E. Ott, Sr. and Lucille Showalter.
Brenda was best known for her loving and caring of others.
With an impressive career in hospitality and catering in the Shenandoah Valley, her one-of-a-kind offerings, service and memory of special guest preferences set her way above all others in the industry. Famous for being a stickler for details and sanitation in her business, Brenda even once slapped the hand of the Governor of Virginia for not using the tongs to pick up the breakfast sausage bites at a major breakfast. While his security staff went on alert, the Governor loved it.
Additionally, Brenda served as the food and beverage manager for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma where she had the privilege of being the dance partner of then Vice President, (the elder) George Bush, at a memorable banquet.
She was recently awarded the Woman Owned Business of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce, where she was an active member for many years. Her extensive volunteer work included work for the SPCA and the aforementioned chamber of commerce. She held a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
Brenda’s zest and love for life will live on for many years in the hearts of her family, friends, clients and community.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT BRENDA: While in elementary school, she tucked up her hair and was the pitcher for the boy's baseball team. She struck out several batters until opposing coaches had her disqualified for being a girl.
She is survived by her husband of over 34 years, Michael Adamo, two daughters, Rana Vann and Karen Vann, and four grandchildren, Ashley, Nicolas, Chloe and Natalie.
Brenda's favorite band was the Eagles and her favorite song was “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.
Her favorite movie was Tombstone, because of Kurt Russell.
As per her request, in lieu of flowers, she would prefer donations be made to local SPCA’s and the American Cancer Society.
The family is being served by the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, Fishersville.
