Boyd Kimble

January 29, 1937 - December 17, 2023

Boyd Kimble, 86, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. He was born January 29, 1937, in Upper Tract, WV, the son of the late Ottis and Wilda (Judy) Kimble. On September 20, 1958, he married the love of his life and his wife of 65 years, Leta (Propst) Kimble, who survives in Franklin.

Boyd moved to Baltimore, MD in 1954 where he enjoyed working at General Motors, and retired in 1989, after 30 years of service. During his retirement, he proudly worked for Basagic Funeral Homes for 30 years.

Boyd attended Upper Tract School and Franklin High School and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Deer Run. He was also a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge #769 and of the “Adopt-a-Highway” Crew for over 25 years. He had a great love of sports, all college sports and especially being involved and coaching little league baseball for many years. LeBron James was his hero and during his stay in the hospital, the TV was tuned to him for Boyd's entertainment.

One of Boyd's biggest accomplishments was donating almost 40 gallons of blood for the American Red Cross, but his greatest passion in life was his family.

Boyd leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Leta Kimble; two children, David W. Kimble (Susie) of Las Cruces, NM, and Debbie Kimble Turner (Tom) of Franklin, WV; four grandchildren, MaryAlice Allred (Tyler) of Las Cruces, NM, Zachary Kimble of Gilbert, AZ, Raven Siciliano (John) of Harrisonburg, VA, and Alexis Evans (Tyler) of Petersburg WV; three great-grandchildren, Kenley Evans, Caroline Allred, and Baylor Siciliano. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Ann Alt of Gambrills, MD and Sue Eskridge of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister-in-law, Nancy Bilheimer (John) of Baltimore, Maryland; and his “extra kid” Sheila Torrance of Harrisonburg, VA, along with many other special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Weese, Sitty Dunkle, and Lucille Torrance; and one brother, Johnnie Kimble.

Boyd’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV.
