Bonnie G. Rankiin

CHURCHVILLE – Bonnie Gail (Griffin) Fitzgerald Rankin, 67, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (November 29, 2023), surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born in Staunton on March 16, 1956, a daughter of the late Leslie Malcoln Griffin and Mary Katherine (Desper) Griffin. Bonnie worked all her life as a certified nursing assistant, caring for the needs of others.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas W. Fitzgerald; three sisters, Hope Karen Griffin, Marie Elaine Griffin, and Brenda Villalobos; and a niece, Brittany Helmick. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Burke (husband Roger); granddaughters Crissy Burke (fiancé Ryan) and Hailey Knight, whom she raised as her own (husband Lloyd Knight Jr); great-granddaughter and the apple of her eye, Lainey Knight; and sisters Mary Miller and Barbara Guffey.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 5 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Lester Kennedy. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
