Betty Lou Berry
Betty Lou (Barr) Berry, 94, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living in Fishersville. She was born in Pine Grove, WV, on May 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Reva Virginia (Fisher) Barr.
Betty gradated high school and then continued to graduate from Bible College. She worked as a home daycare provider and was the Junior Church Teacher at Central Baptist Church, where she was a member. Vegetable and flower gardening, swimming, attending exercise classes, shopping, dewing, and working on Jigsaw puzzles were a few of her favorite hobbies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Pastor Vernon Ray Berry, and her siblings: Roger Barr, Earnest Barr, Shirley Barr, Grace Marshall, Willa Belle Pyles, and John Barr.
Survivors include her children: Dotty VanLear (Philip) , Sam Berry (Sandy), Tom Berry (Debbie), and Raymond Berry ( Debbie) ; grandchildren: Veronica, Jacob, Ryan, Chad, Andrew, Seth, James, Heather, Colton, Victoria, and Cameron; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Larry Barr, Alice Sweeney, Rose Bonner, Mary Underwood (Dick), Cary Lindler, and Katie Marshall; brothers-in-law, Roger Berry and Jerry Watkins; sister-in-law, Anna Lee Berry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10am on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Central Baptist Church, 261 Bookerdale Rd, Waynesboro. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to her church, Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 433, Waynesboro, VA, 22980 or to Birch Gardens Assisted Living, 12 Royal Dr., Staunton, VA, 24401.
