Berlin Brill

Berlin Bennett Brill, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Harrisonburg, VA. Born and raised in Strasburg, VA, he was a cherished member of the community throughout his life.

He spent many years working at Brill’s Grocery, alongside his parents Frances and Harry Brill, Sr. where he became well known for delivering groceries, a uniquely personal touch that left a lasting impression on many in town. In addition, he cared for numerous lawns in the community, taking pride in his work and embracing the joy of being outdoors. Berlin had a deep love for sports, especially basketball and college football. There wasn’t a team or player he didn’t know something about. His knowledge and enthusiasm sparked countless conversations.

Berlin charmed everyone he met with his easygoing nature and warm personality. He was simply a joy to be around. Whether enjoying time on his porch, listening to music, especially his favorite, Johnny Cash eating ice cream, popcorn, or sharing stories with friends and neighbors, he left behind memories that will be fondly treasured.

Berlin is survived by his siblings Joyce B. Rinker, Harry T. Brill, Jr, and Connie B. Shorter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A graveside service will be on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersh.

We will always remember his smile, his kind spirit, and the way he made others feel special.  May he rest in peace.
