Barbara Allen Crone Shifflett

December 2, 1928 - April 11, 2023

Barbara Allen Crone Shifflett, 94, widow of Myles Lee Shifflett, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Barbara was born on December 2, 1928 in Greenbrier County, WV to the late Jacob William and Emma Frances Clingman Crone.

She retired from Hollister, Inc. in Stuarts Draft after fifteen years of employment as a Quality Inspector and was a devoted member of Old Providence ARP Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern.

She enjoyed farming, gardening, painting, and dancing with her friends. She loved spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. In her high school years, she was a gifted student-athlete who excelled on the basketball court. She was part of the first traveling women’s basketball teams in the area of her youth. Later, she played in numerous softball and bowling leagues and especially enjoyed playing in the bowling league with Hollister. She was a special lady who truly lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by her sons, Myles Stephen Shifflett and his wife, Lisa and Jeffrey Wayne Shifflett and his wife, Kathy; her daughters, Tammy Jane Shifflett Dubose and her husband, James, Carol Sue Shifflett Sparks and her husband, Mickey, Leada Ann Shifflett, Robin Allen Shifflett, and Darla Jean Shifflett; her sister, Elsie Crone Jones and her husband, Ray; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Coley Rittenhouse.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Montague, Okey Gilcrest, Jacob Milton, and Paul Compton Crone and her sisters, Gertrude Mae Crone Jones, June Crone Hodges, Kathleen Crone McLain, and Bessie Lee Crone Lotts.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Old Providence ARP Church with the Reverend Patrick Malphrus officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Myles Shifflett, Preston Taylor, Travis Shifflett, Garrett Witt, Cody Stover, and Montana Stover.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A reception will follow the graveside in the reception hall.
