Barbara A. Conway

Barbara A. Conway, of Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, VA, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Barbara was born on November 24, 1933 in Glendale, CA, the daughter of the late Bob and Francey Moore.

Barbara graduated from Venice High School in Los Angeles, CA majoring in theater arts and music. She put her love of acting and her talents to use in all facets of life. Most of her working years were spent in the credit union industry where she went from teller to manager of all overseas operations for a staff of 40 people around the world from the Azores to Guam. Comments from bosses were: ability to stretch others and adaptable to change. After retirement she opened her own florist in Fluvanna County and learned floral design. Then she moved to Sunnyside and became a "professional" volunteer at Sunny Treasures. If you met her, she touched your life.

Outside of her many careers, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family. Her daughter, Connie and her husband, Don Flanagan; her son, Rick, and his wife, Pam Bosworth; her step son, Tom Conway, Jr. and his wife, Judy; her two step daughters Sandra Lamb and husband, Hank and Wini Kahler; her grandchildren, Heather Roman and her husband, Joseph and Lara Thomas and her husband, Brian; step grandson, Jason Powers and wife, Kate; step grandchildren Scott Conway and his wife, Ellen, Grant Conway and his wife , Jennifer and Ryan Conway and his wife, Megan, Dustin Kahler and wife Elena, Ashlyn Rios and husband Ezequiel, Skyler Warren, and Kesley Warren and wife Chelci. Plus, five great grandchildren and twenty step great grandchildren. As well as her sister, Penny Gilmour and her husband, Dana; and her beloved dog, Bunny.

In honoring Barbara's wishes, a celebration of life party and inurnment alongside her late husband, Tom Conway, Sr., at Arlington National Cemetery, will take place at a later date. She wanted her friends and family to celebrate her life with a toast to the song "I did it my way".
