Ann Lee Minnich Newman

Anna Lee Newman, 86, of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

She was born on August 21, 1938, and was a daughter of the late Claude H. and Leah (Golladay) Minnich.

Anna worked as a Library Clerk at James Madison University and was a member of Saint James United Methodist Church.

She was united in marriage on, August 15, 1956, to Lawrence A. Newman, Jr., who survives.

Anna is also survived by children, Cherie (Rick) Bowen, Kathy (Mike) Bowen, Laurie (Greg) Brown, Cindy (Ted) Bryan; grandchilden, Michael (Beth) Bowen, Alex (Amanda) Brown, Ryan (Quineashia Lee) Bowen, Austin (Colleen) Brown; great-grandchildren, Acadia, Tanner, Kasen, Brynley, Paxton, Easton; brother, Claude "Sonny" Minnich; sister, Dorice (Henry) Graham.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Derek Bowen; and sister-in-law, Wanda Minnich.

A memorial service will be held at 7PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. James United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lori Valentine and Rev. Gary Fulton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Society of St. Andrew, 3383 Sweet Hollow Rd., Big Island, VA 24526-8517.
