Alma Claytor Brinkley
Alma Claytor Brinkley, 86, of Crimora, died early Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at her home. She was born July 24, 1937, in Augusta County, daughter of the late Malcolm Dennis Cook, Sr. and Gladys Marie Blackwell Cook.
Alma retired as a Crafter with Virginia Metalcrafters in Waynesboro. She was a member of Harriston Christian Center and played piano for Mt. Bethel Church. Alma enjoyed writing books, playing piano and she truly loved to sing and dance.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine Sue Claytor who passed away May 17, 1999, her birthday was February 22, 1962; her first husband, Donald Gene Claytor, they were married on September 13, 1958 and he passed away on August 20, 1986; she then married Roy Ernest Brinkley, Jr. on June 20, 1987, and he passed away October 1, 2008.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Rita Dale Daniel; her stepson, Steven Brent Brinkley; her bonus son, Tracy Claytor; her bonus daughter, Melissa Claytor McCaslin; her grandson, Robert Christian Fonner and her granddaughter, Mary Katherine Rains. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
As an 86-year-old, Mickey witnessed the loss of many friends and family. When asked how she handled it she responded with “Why would I get upset that the people I love get to spend the ultimate vacation with Jesus.”

Family and friends will assemble at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 to process to Augusta Memorial Park where a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM.
Following the graveside service the family and friends will gather at Mt. Bethel Church, 148 Rock Mountain Lane, Crimora, VA 22431 at 3:30 PM for a Celebration of Life Ceremony.
