Alda Knott Miller

Alda Knott Miller, 94, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

She was born on May 1, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Walter Preston and Annie (Sheets) Knott.

Alda had worked at Sancar and in the cafeteria at Ottobine Elementary School. She was the last lifetime deacon at Beaver Creek Church and was active in the tape ministry. She was active in the Sonshine Girls Ministry at the Harrisonburg First Assembly of God. She was a member of the Gideon International Ladies Auxillary.

Alda was united in marriage on June 8, 1947 to Elvin Miller who preceded her in death on April 3, 2006.

Alda is survived by a daughter, Linda (John Mark) Shifflett; her sister, Meda McNett; her grandchildren, Melissa (Rick) Reynolds, John Mark (Jamie) Shifflett, II, Jeremy Matthew (Jennifer) Shifflett, Robert (Teresa) Thompson, Curtis (Renee) Thompson, Lori (Scott) Collins, and Debbie (David) Strickler; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Glick; siblings, Carl Knott, Boyd Lee "Koontz" Knott, Ray Knott, Arlene Miller and Orpha Simmons.

A service celebrating Alda's life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Beaver Creek Church with Pastor Ryan Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
