Judy Howard

Judy Ann Poole Howard, 66, of Staunton, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born July 15, 1959 in Staunton, daughter of the late H. Steele Poole and the late Grace Lowe Poole.

Judy was a 1977 graduate of Fort Defiance High School. Following graduation, she began work at Augusta County School system as an Information Technology Clerk. Judy remained there her entire 44 year working career, as she loved her fellow employees and students she interacted with. She was an active supporter and donor to many animal, military and veteran’s organizations. Her love for family knew no limits, and her love for animals no bounds. Judy so enjoyed planning yearly family reunions and Christmas celebrations, and making sure Santa always stopped in to see our excited children and receive a treat from him. She will be remembered for the love, support and fun with her nieces and nephews as they were growing up, trips to movies, music venues, parks and meals enjoyed together. She loved her music and music trivia, often trying to test one’s knowledge of artists and names of their songs. Judy sorely missed her dear Randy, the love of her life, when she lost him in 2024.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Augusta Health ICU Care Team, Palliative Care Team and the Cancer Center for their outstanding care and compassion provided to Judy and her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her spouse, Randy Howard, her sister, Patty Chittum and her brother, Billy Poole.

Survivors include her three sisters, Linda H. Quick of Stuarts Draft, Janis P. Keith of Fishersville and Elaine P. Ellinger of Stuarts Draft; her brother, Howard S. Poole, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Roanoke and many nieces and nephews, and her cherished fur babies, Rufus and Rangeley.

The family will receive friends at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, Fishersville, on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Dave Chappell.
