William Learoy Peale
William Learoy Peale, 78, of Grottoes, Virginia died July 12, 2025 peacefully at his home in Harrisonburg. He was the son of William T. Peale and Minnie Irene Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Virgle Eugene Peale, and a beloved nephew, Ronnie Peale, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Debbie; brother, Ronnie (Linda) Peale; sister, Joyce (Earl) Legg; his only son, Matthew; three daughters, Candy, Amy, and Kelly; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his beloved Cavalier Spaniel, Ruby.
Bill was a veteran of the US Army, serving 3 years during the Vietnam War. Bill was a popular business owner and a licensed general contractor in Virginia and Florida. He was a master of carving and woodworking, forever a craftsman at heart.
He loved golf. His favorite course was the Magic Tree Golf Course. He loved flowers and gardening and was brilliant at growing, nourishing, and beautifying the environment.
Bill was a patient man who loved children and to entertain his family with stories and antics. Anyone who spent time in the car on a road trip with Bill knew "Snuff Lady." He loved to make people smile.
Above all else, Bill loved Jesus. He loved to talk to people about Jesus and never met a stranger. He prayed fervently that his loved ones would come to know Jesus. The best way to honor his life is to give your life to Jesus Christ.
Special thanks goes out to the VA, UVA Med Center, Gentiva Hospice, Grottoes UM Church, and the caregivers who treated Bill with such kindness and dignity he deserved.
A service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 19th at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service Grottoes Chapel with Chaplain Steven Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service, Grottoes.
