William Cason, Jr.

September 12, 1948 - February 11, 2024

William B. “Bill” Cason, 75, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born in Staunton, on September 12, 1948, the son of the late William B. Cason and the late Mildred H. Cason.

Bill attended Lee High School and was a graduate of Augusta Military Academy. He retired as an Appraiser with Cason Appraisal Co. A man of many interests, he enjoyed boats and participated in Monty team racing on the James River. Bill also had a keen interest in foreign sports cars. He was a Black Belt in Karate and an Eagle Scout.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Augusta Health for the excellent care they provided to Bill during his illness.

He is survived by his wife, Judy L. Cason, his son, Chris (Emilie) Cason of Waynesboro, two granddaughters, Kate Cason and Brooklyn Cason and his sister, Judy Cook of Staunton. Also surviving are special friends, Tom Gore, who helped tremendously during Bill’s illness and Richard Tanner and Tony Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 16, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor Dr. Jamie McClanahan. Serving as active pallbearers will be, Tom Gore, Chris Cason, Eddie Groome, Ed Glover, Michael Nuckols, Tony Cooper, Steve Ayers and Jeff Flint. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery for the service.
