William "Bill" Norman Braithwaite

September 16, 1941 - August 9, 2024

William Norman “Bill” Braithwaite, 82, devoted and loving husband of Janet (Sulak) Braithwaite, of Mount Sidney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, August 9, 2024 at his residence following a long and courageous battle with several major cancers.
Mr. Braithwaite was born in Winona, West Virginia on September 16, 1941, a son of the late Norman Edgar and Alfretta “Fretta” (Horrocks) Braithwaite.
Bill was a faithful member of Pleasant View Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Among his many interests, he had a passion for anything to do with trains, whether it be riding scenic trains throughout the U.S. or working on his large model train layout. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, wood working, hiking in his younger days, and painting scenic landscapes. 
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Bill is survived by two daughters, Patricia Sturrock (Gary) and Deanna Reffett; grandchildren, Emily and Abigail Sturrock; a sister, Frances B. Suter; a brother, John Braithwaite (Jane), both of Dayton; a special nephew, Michael Suter; and a number of nieces and additional nephews. 
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Pleasant View Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastors Derek Boggs and David Bacon.
Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
