Willard Jarvis Fletcher
Willard Jarvis Fletcher, 95, of Staunton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Fletcher was born in Albany, New York on March 28, 1930, the son of the late Carl Lee Fletcher and Irene Lemoine Tefft.
Will grew up in Greenwich, New York, graduating from Greenwich High School in 1949. He joined the United States Army and upon completing training at the US Signal School, he served as a member of the US Signal Corp in Germany during the Korean War.
Upon discharge, Will enjoyed a long career with AT&T and retired from Verizon after 30 years. An early career highlight was working on the White Alice Communications Systems (WACS) Project in Alaska. White Alice was a United States Air Force telecommunication network with 80 radio stations constructed in Alaska during the Cold War.
Antiquing and traveling were his favorite retirement activities, which included a trip back to Alaska. His favorite travel spots were Acadia National Park in Maine and Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Before moving to Staunton, he was a regular at his favorite upstate New York restaurants, the Anvil Inn in Fort Edward and Winslow’s Restaurant in Wilton.
Those that will deeply miss him include his long-time partner, Ramona Bearor; his children, Dan (Denise) Fletcher, Shay (Jim) Robertson and their mother, Carolyn Fletcher; grandchildren, Evan (Kelsey) Fletcher and Alana Fletcher; as well as his four-legged companions, Lexi and Kiki.
A special thank you to Pebbles Woodward, who kept him moving and out of trouble for the past few years as well as the team at Legacy Hospice (Kristy and Amanda) for their outstanding support.
Interment at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York will be planned for the spring of 2026.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
