Wayne Edward Gill
Wayne E. Gill, 54, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Wayne was born on December 23, 1969, in Hinton, West Virginia, to parents Jimmy and Ina Gill, who survive.
He lived in Tampa, Florida with his family before settling in Waynesboro, Virginia. Wayne attended Waynesboro High School and Blue Ridge Community College. On September 10, 1994, in Waynesboro, Virginia, he married Theresa Vangundy.
As a skilled welder and fabricator, he dedicated himself to expressing his creativity through the crafting of unique creations. Proficient in technical work, Wayne harbored a deep affection for automotive and machinery projects. His innovative talents were exemplified by the design of an award-winning 1920 Super Six Essex "RatRod," and he garnered recognition from NASA for his contributions to robotic arm design.
Wayne, an enthusiastic outdoorsman, found joy in activities such as hunting, deep-sea fishing, and anything related to space. Known for his immense kindness, he often expressed the sentiment that "a stranger is just someone you haven't met," making friends with anyone. Wayne had a profound love for all animals, readily rescuing any stray in need.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Gill; son, Nathan Grimm, and wife, Britney; daughter, Lindsay Gill-Dinofrio, and husband, Chris; brother, Michael Gill, and wife, Carrie; sister, Janet Sweet, and husband, Coe; three nieces; and his four grandchildren, Corbin, Montana, Ryleigh, and Ellie; and his beloved dog, Bandit.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 44 Windigrove Dr., Waynesboro, Virginia.
