Wanda Estelle Mongold
Wanda Estelle Mongold, 95, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Bridgewater Home.
She was born on July 11, 1929 in Bergton, and was a daughter of the late Seymour and Grace (Dove) Turner.
Wanda was a member of Summit Church of the Brethren. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading, and preparing wonderful meals. Along with her husband, family and friends, she enjoyed camping and sitting by campfires talking together. Later in life when memories, faces, and names faded, she worked on worked her word search books and remembered songs from her childhood. Singing was her main joy - she said that was her happy time.
Wanda was united in marriage on Feb. 12, 1947 to L. Wayne Mongold, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2012.
Wanda is survived by two children, Carolyn (Roy) Zirk, and Donald Mongold; five grandchildren, Douglas (Karen) Zirk, Jason (Casi) Zirk, Stephania Smith, Patrick (Karen) Mongold, and Nathan (Correna) Mongold, great-grandchildren, Grace Zirk and fiance, Matthew Hulvey, Jackson Zirk, Levi Zirk, Ronald Mongold, Brittany Mongold, William Mongold, Katelyn Smith, Jonathan Smith, and Megan Smith; great-great-granddaughter, Baily Rose Hunt; sister, Arlene Mongold; sister-in-law, Nona Pauley.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Daniel Mongold; sisters, Violet Earls, and Edna Peale; brother, Orvan Turner.
Friends may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater anytime between 9 AM and 5 PM Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 to pay their respects and sign the guest register.
A graveside service celebrating Wanda's life will be held 11 AM Saturday, Feb. 1st, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, with Pastor Tim Craver officiating.
Wanda's family would like to thank the caregivers at Tranquility House of Bridgewater Retirement Community for their loving care given to Wanda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
