W. Duerrell Bussard

STAUNTON – William Duerrell “Bill” Bussard, 88, formerly of Churchville and Verona, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in Augusta Health.

Bill was born in Deerfield on January 2, 1937, a son of the late Charles Harmon and Viola (Grimes) Bussard. He was a truck driver all his life, retiring in 1996 from ABF Freight. He attended Glossbrenner United Methodist Church for many years and then Verona United Methodist Church.

He was the last living member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy, Warren and Leland Bussard; and a sister, Ruby Whisman.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen (Faught) Bussard; two children, Rodney E. Bussard and wife Janice of Verona, and Teresa B. Cline and husband Scott of Staunton; three grandchildren, Noah Bussard and wife Tiffany, Ashley Showalter and husband Titus, and Cory Cline and wife Laurin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (October 5) in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Shawna Hiner.

The family will receive friends at Bear Funeral Home from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday (October 4).
