Vickie Lynn (Nazelrod) Barnes
Vickie Lynn (Nazelrod) Barnes, 61, wife of Michael T. “Mike” Barnes, of Staunton, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia on April 23, 1963, a daughter of Lucy Mae Evans and the late, Lindy Earl Nazelrod.
Vickie previously worked for Reynolds Metals Company and was a devoted member of Weyers Cave United Methodist Church. She had a passion for doll collecting, found joy in reading and writing poetry, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Above all, she cherished caring for her family.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by a brother, Lindy Leon Nazelrod; and her father-in-law, Thomas Barnes.
Surviving, in addition to her mother of Harrisonburg and husband of thirty-six years, is a son, Brock Michael Barnes of Staunton; a brother, Lindy Lee Nazelrod and his wife, Dena of Harrisonburg; a sister, Theresa Mae (Nazelrod) Shifflett and her husband, Barry of Elkton; her mother-in-law, Wilda Barnes of Verona; two brothers-in-law, Christopher S. Barnes and Randy A. Barnes of Staunton; two nephews, Tyler Shifflett and Chris Nazelrod; and a niece, Augusta Barnes.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Amy Pannell and Luke B. Smith.
Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tyler Shifflett, Chris Nazelrod, B.J. Smith, Jason Smith, Jim Dillard, Benjamin Denson, Scott Doddril, and Ken Cook.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Weyers Cave United Methodist Church, 228 Houff Road, Weyers Cave, VA 24486 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
