Terry Dean Weatherford

May 28, 1953 - October 3, 2025

Terry Dean Weatherford, 72, husband of Gail Denise (Newman) Weatherford, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Weatherford was born on May 28, 1953 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a son of the late James Darbin Weatherford and Barbara Marie (Weber) Weatherford.

Out of high school, Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and later to the United States Army, serving a total of 18 and a half years. While enlisted in the United States Army, he served as a Staff Sergeant, drill instructor, recruiter and was an expert in rifle competition. He was a graduate of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. and Forsyth Technical Institute in Winston-Salem, N.C. 

Prior to his retirement from Great Eastern Resorts in Massanutten, as assistant manager of security, he was employed with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon L. Whiteman. 

Surviving in addition to his wife of 24 years, is a step-son, George “Mitch” Carper of Germany; two step-daughters, Anneka L. Campbell of Stuarts Draft and Tina “Christy” Bevers of Swansboro, N.C.; a brother, Danny E. Weatherford and his wife, Melinda of East Bend, N.C.; four grandchildren, James Bevers, Jared Bevers, Logan Carper, and Brody Carper; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.  

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church by Pastor Eric Brown.

Burial will be private with Military Honors in the Mt Crawford Cemetery.
