Susan Louise Walls
Susan Louise Walls, 85, of Mount Crawford, Virginia passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
She was born on August 10, 1938 in Mansfield, Ohio and was a daughter of the late John David and Gladys (Mosley) Eberly.
Susan was united in marriage to LTC Merritt "Bud" Phillip Walls who preceded her in death on February 10, 2014. As a US Army officer's wife with a passion for visiting new places, Susan (and Bud) traveled extensively, raising her expanding family, all while supporting her husband's military career residing in various locations, both domestically and abroad.
Upon their retirement from the Army they moved to their beloved home in Mount Crawford, Virginia where they continued their passion for travel throughout the United States, participating with various RV groups while participating as active members of the Cardinal Virginians.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Susan enjoyed spending most of her time with her children, grand and great grand-children and her extensive network of friends, enjoying the support and fellowship of members of the New Beginning Church.
Always a very active and extremely creative hobbyist with a a continuing love of gardening, Susan was a zealous, avid reader, librarian, collector and overall children's book author aficionado, as well as an extremely talented needlepoint, quilting and handwork specialist, all enjoyed with her cherished constant companions, Molly and Millie.
Susan is survived by five children, Merritt Walls, Jr. and wife Judi, Jeanna Harris and husband Peter, John Walls and wife Betsy, Clayton Walls and wife Dawn, Katherine Cabana and husband Donald; eight grandchildren, Joshua Harris and wife Nikki, Audrey Walls Taylor and husband Joshua, Keaton Walls and wife Kellie, Lauren Cabana and fiance Lucas, Avery Walls Bosley and husband Logan, Grayson Walls, Austin Cabana, Julia Walls; five great grandchildren, Liam Harris, Sawyer Harris, Holly Taylor, Freya Farmer, Josie Walls; sisters Glenda Eberly Potter and Janalee Eberly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Phillip Walls; father, John Eberly; mother, Gladys Eberly.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
A service celebrating Susan's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at New Beginnings Church with Pastor Reuben Horst officiating. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
