Stella Mary Sorrels
Stella Mary (Nicely) Sorrels, 94, of Harriston, passed away peacefully after a short battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at her home.
She was born May 18, 1930, in Collierstown, VA. She was preceded in death by herloving parents Edna Ruth Clark Nicely and Nathan M. Nicely. Stella graduated from
Waynesboro High School in 1947. She was a lifelong fan of ice cream, fishing, the NY Yankees, and the Redskins. Stella was a devoted member of Mt. Bethel Church, Harriston, VA. She retired after 30 years of service from GE/Genicom receiving many outstanding commendations. She loved working in her garden, Koi pond and in her many beautiful flower beds.
Stella is survived by her loving husband, William (Billy) Arrington and her children,Brenda Eppard, Darlene Ralston, Michael Sorrels (Debbie) and Mitchell Sorrels;Brothers, Joe Nicely (Pauline) and Don Nicely; Grandchildren, Tara Eppard, JeremyHawks (Mandy Harpine & Laney, Kayleigh, and Annie), Mike Sorrels Jr. (Tina), MattSorrels (Rachel Vannest & Brayden Kline); Great-grandchildren, Brandon Eppard, Brianna Eppard (Gabe Hernandez) and Brodix Sorrels; Numerous nieces, nephews,great nieces and nephews, step daughters and step grandchildren and specialfamily friends, Damon Mayo, Timmy Fox, Bobby VanBuren and BB Harris.
She was preceded in death by Thurman E. Sorrels (late husband), Thurman Sorrels Jr. (son) and Annie Nicely (sister).
Family night will be at Mt. Bethel Church held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The funeral service celebrating Stella's life will be conducted by the Rev. Ansel Seeds on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Both events will be held at the Mt. Bethel Church located at 148 Rock Mountain Ln, Crimora, VA.Burial to follow at the Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Grottoes Rescue Squad,805 Augusta Ave, Grottoes, VA 24441.
