Sissie Hitt

Elizabeth Virginia "Sissie" (Via) Hitt, 84, of Grottoes, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her home.

She was born on December 22, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Prentice D. and Sally (Ralston) Via.

She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord, reading her Bible, and attending the Grottoes Church of God.

Sissie was united in marriage to Bobby "Booty" Hitt, who preceded her in death.

Sissie is survived by a sister and caregivers, Connie Scott and husband, Donnie; very special niece, Amanda Schoolcraft and companion, Sam Burns; nephews, Shawn Via; great-nephews, Josh and Daniel Schoolcraft; daughter by heart, Kimberly Harper;special friend, Donna Caricofe.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Aaron Hitt, and a brother, Prentice Junior Via.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.

A graveside service will be conducted 1 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, at Port Republic Cemetery, with Pastor Glen Hughes officiating.
