Shirley Lee Cash

Shirley Lee Cash, 88, passed away peacefully Monday November 4, 2024 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living in Fishersville.

Shirley was born in Augusta County February 28, 1936 to the late Aubrey G. and the late Lena Fauver Cash.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Leon (Bobby) Cash; sister, Linda Schmick and her husband Albert; special brother in law, Raymond E. Cash; nephew, Glendon (Kessy) Cash. 

Shirley was devoted to her family, church and was an active member of Vesuvius Baptist Church for over 50 years serving as Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, active in her Adult SS class and sang in the choir. She graduated from Spotswood High School and went to work at Genesco in Verona where she retired after 40 years. 

Shirley had a love of sports, and her two favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins. She also enjoyed family trips to the beach, NASCAR races and special trips taken with her son and daughter. She was very proud of her grandchildren and attended their events as much as possible.

Surviving family are husband of 65 years Ralph W. Cash; son, Michael Cash and wife Rebecca; daughter, Cindy Wenger and husband H.L.; grandchildren, Cameron Ellis and husband Nic; Weston Cash, Derek Wenger and wife Shannon; four great grandchildren, Kaison and Reese Ellis, Hudson and Brady Wenger; brother, Aubrey G. Cash and wife Mary; sister Thelma June Cash; sister in law,  Glenna Cash; nieces, Tammy Peeling, Alisa Cash, Tonya Doyle and Windy; nephews, Leon Cash and wife Tammy; Tom Doyle and wife Mary Jane, special cousin, Alice Holden and many other friends and family.

A Funeral Service will be held 12 noon Saturday November 9, 2024 at Vesuvius Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A private family burial will be held.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Marsh and the staff of Birch Gardens for the special care given to Shirley.
