Sheryl Pifer
Sheryl Irene Pifer, 70, of Strasburg, VA passed away on January 1, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Pifer was born on August 17, 1955daughter of the late Owen Lee and Shirley Irene Pangle. She was raised by her late grandmother and grandfather, Mary and William Pangle and great aunt Naomi Hines. Sheryl was married to Larry Pifer for 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Pifer worked for the Toms Brook United Methodist Church for 20 years and the United Methodist District Office for 12 years. She worked most recently for Hearing Aid Services in Winchester. A special thanks to Travis, Donna, Charlie and Amanda for all of their support. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Mary Pangle, and her great aunt Naomi Hines.
In addition to her husband Larry, she is survived by two sons, Owen Pifer and Aaron Pifer (Abbey); her grandchildren Jasmine, Naomi, Eleanor, and Miles; her special Aunt Norma Stickley; her favorite nephew Steven Racey; her favorite niece Rose Racey; her brother-in-law Roland Pifer along with a sister Cindy Avvenire.
A funeral service for Mrs. Pifer will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Strasburg Christian Church with Rev. Rob Lovett officiating. Mrs. Pifer will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, VA. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Larry Holler, Bill Stokes, Travis King, Charlie Coleman, Scott Curry, and Carl Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Gnegy, Kevin Fauber, and Dennis Fauber.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff that have helped her throughout her journey.
