Shelley Layne Mace

Shelley Layne (Rogers) Mace, 58, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

She was born on August 11, 1965, and was a daughter of the late Leon W. Rogers, and Martha (Maitland) Heatwole of Mt. Crawford and the late Roland C. Heatwole.

Shelley had worked for McQuay in Verona. She was a hard worker, loved traveling, and enjoyed visiting the beach, especially Siesta Key, FL.

Shelley was united in marriage in July of 1997 to Arnold Wayne Mace, who survives.

Shelley is also survived by a son, Aaron Paul Rodgers of Reston; sisters, Beth A. Woods of Harrisonburg, Lori L. Woods and husband, Curtis, of Harrisonburg, and Sarah A. Curbelo of Penn Laird; brothers, Ernest Rogers and wife, Tiffany, of McGaheysville, and Leon W. Rogers of NJ; step-brothers, Curtis L. Heatwole and wife, Heather, of England, and Daron A. Heatwole and wife, Barbara, of Verona; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father and step-father, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles A. Sr., and Myrtle V. Maitland; paternal grandparents, Ernest R. and Nellie M. Rogers.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes.

A service celebrating Shelley's life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 18th, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes, with Chaplain David Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.
