Sharon Hallifax

May 28, 1942 - May 16, 2024

Sharon Hallifax entered into rest surrounded by her daughters after her battle with dementia on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the age of 81 years old. Born on May 28, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Grace Greene. She is also predeceased by her brother Darrell Greene, husband Norman Hallifax, son-in-law Charles “Sam” Pines, great grandson Rory Szmolke, and son-in-law Eric Lackner.

Sharon met her husband, Norm, in Newfane, NY, where they were high school sweethearts. Shortly afterward, they started a family and were blessed with four children: Kelli Pines, Jody (Jeff) Conrad, Randy Hallifax, and Robin Lackner. Her family continued to grow to include seven grandchildren: Phillip (Lacey) Pines, Daniel (Marie) Conrad, Nathan (Kim) Pines, Heather Boos, Maegan (Robin) Szmolke, Kyle Conrad, and Kaitlin (Seth) Russo; and four great grandchildren: Jameson, Dominic, and Brooklyn Pines, and Gideon Szmolke.

Sharon watched all her children and grandchildren come up through the Newfane Central School District as she worked in the main office, not allowing any of them to get away with anything in school for over 40 years. Among many of the things Sharon enjoyed doing in life include, building their dream log cabin home with Norm, carrying on family traditions with her children and grandchildren, gardening with her mother, traveling to Amish Country in Ohio and the Finger Lakes, collecting Raggedy Ann dolls and anything rooster, reading, knitting, and caring for her tribe of cats, including strays and those that belonged to the neighbors. She was a hard worker, never being known as one to sit still. And while watching her favorite sports teams, Sharon was the rowdy one of the group, to many people’s surprise.

Sharon was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years. She loved sharing her beliefs about the Bible with others and instilled a love for God in her family. Sharon’s faith and hope in the resurrection and a paradise on earth by means of God’s Kingdom comforted her through trials and loss until her last breath.
