Selda Jane (Sprouse) King

Selda Jane (Sprouse) King, 89, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville. 
Ms. King was born in Alleghany County, Virginia on July 24, 1936, a daughter of the late Raleigh Holland Sprouse and Irene Elva (Herron) Persinger.
Selda retired after many years of service from Penny Plate of Virginia as a quality control manager. She attended Greenville United Methodist church, she was a member of the Staunton Moose #1635, and the Fraternity Order of Eagles #680. She enjoyed dancing, bingo and was a devoted Jimmy Fortune fan.
In addition to her parents, Ms. King was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Kaye King; and two brothers, Gene and Larry Sprouse. 
Surviving, is a son, Charles William “Bill” King, Jr. of Raphine; three daughters, Susan (King) Traylor and her husband, Kevin, Connie (King) Jacobs and her fiancé, Curtis Bosserman, and Fran King, all of Greenville; two sisters, Pat Murrell of South Pasadena, FL and Susan Harold of Wilson, NC; six Grandchildren, Brandon Traylor and his wife Chandra, Benjamin Traylor, Brittany Traylor Davis and her husband, Jason, Devin King and his wife Danielle, Haylee Jacobs and her fiancé, Cody Shifflett and Sahara Traylor, six great-grandchildren, Stillman Davis, Langston Davis, Huxley Davis, Owen Traylor, Annie Traylor and Riggs Traylor; two bonus great-grandchildren, Karl Nelson and Garrett Nelson; and special friend Sugie VanFossen.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William “Bill” Trice. 
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be private at Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Augusta Nursing and Rehab for the compassionate care and support provided to Ms. King during her final days.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
